Pezeshkian: Iran will not yield to US pressure, has no desire for war

Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran will continue to resist US pressure and will never submit to coercion, stressing that the country does not seek war but will not back down in the face of threats and bullying.

“We stood firm and will continue to stand firm,” Pezeshkian said on Wednesday, adding that the United States did not expect Iran to withstand its attacks and sanctions.

Addressing a ceremony marking National Export Day and honoring the country’s top exporters, Pezeshkian congratulated Iranian exporters and praised their efforts, saying their hard work had helped the country remain resilient despite mounting pressures.

He said the international community views Iran and its people differently because of their perseverance, adding that the country must plan its course in a way that would enable it to continue moving forward with strength and determination.

Pezeshkian said his administration has sought from the outset to remove obstacles facing exporters by delegating authority to regional officials and eliminating cumbersome rules and regulations.

He added that, during the war, he transferred to provincial governors and ministers the same authorities that he himself held, instructing officials to make every effort to resolve problems and remove barriers facing exporters.

The president acknowledged that Iran is grappling with numerous challenges, many of which have existed since his administration took office, and said the war and other pressures have compounded the difficulties.

“The United States did not think that we could stand firm in the face of its attack and the sanctions it imposed; but we stood firm and will continue to stand firm,” he said.

Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran has never sought war and has no intention of starting one, but would not accept coercion.

“This is rooted in our culture, beliefs and convictions,” he said, emphasizing that resistance to pressure is grounded in the country’s fundamental values.

The remarks come amid heightened US military activity in West Asia and increasingly hostile rhetoric by American officials against the Islamic Republic.

Tehran has repeatedly warned that US bases and naval assets across the region will be targeted in response to any renewed aggression against Iranian territory.
